Private William Jonathon James Cushley

(1 RCR)

3 September 2006

Pte Cushley and three other Petawawa-based soldiers with the 1st Battalion of the RCR were killed in one of the fiercest battles Canadians have fought since arriving in Afghanistan four years ago.
At the memorial service his dad said, “William died with his friends whom he both admired and respected, he died doing his duty and serving his country,” he said, his voice breaking with emotion. “As Will’s dad, I speak for the entire family. He wasn’t just our son and brother, he was our best friend.”
William's family have lost their best friend. Canada has lost a hero.
Friends of "Cush" remember him as an "all round awesome guy, joking around all the time, one of the guys". He'll be missed. RIP.
